Shutterbug Camera Shop & SIGMA present: Safari West Wildlife Seminar/Workshop and Astrophotography Workshop
Wildlife Seminar & Workshop
Spend Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 2pm until 7pm PDT at Safari West with Shutterbug Camera and SIGMA’s Aaron Norberg & Lew Held!
Before heading out on the safari, SIGMA Tech Rep Aaron Norberg will lead a seminar on how to best capture the animals you will encounter at Safari West and tips for photographing wildlife in general.
You will have access to Sigma’s loaner lenses to try out some of the techniques from the seminar or just try a lens you are interested in. After the seminar, climb aboard one of the custom safari vehicles and roll out to explore the Sonoma Serengeti. From cheetahs to lemurs, giraffes to wildebeest, there is always something amazing waiting just around the bend.
Alongside a highly – trained safari guide, get up close and personal with nearly a thousand animals. With over ninety species making their homes at Safari West, it truly is Sonoma county’s very own slice of the Serengeti. While the view from the safari truck guarantees a great look at the herds, some animals need a more subtle approach.
On the safari walk, saunter through the Amani Oasis Aviary where demoiselle cranes preen along the path and scarlet ibis soar overhead. Come face-to-face with a black-and-white colobus monkey, search out a cleverly camouflaged cheetah and watch the courtly parade of flamingos around their lagoon home. After your safari, return to base camp to return borrowed lenses, and join us for dinner and an image review.
Learn how to shoot the stars with Sigma Astro-Photography expert Aaron Norberg. Aaron will give you all sorts of tips & tricks for shooting the celestial skies.
Topics include, long exposure, lens options, focusing at night, color correct temperature, ISO options and using a histogram. Sigma will provide fast lenses for Canon, Nikon, and Sony. Depending on the cooperation of the Night Sky, we will finish around 10pm & truck back to base camp. You will then return all borrowed lenses & be on your way. You will need a tripod for this workshop.
