“Behind The Scenes” – Join Michael Downey at the NJ Lottery Festival of Ballooning, the most photographed event on the East Coast! You’ll learn how to photograph hot air balloons as they’re inflating, launching, and flying up in the air. You’ll then be behind the scenes at the festival and free to roam the balloon launch area. Don’t miss out on breathtaking visuals of balloons from around the world!
“V.I.P.. i.e. Taking Flight” – Learn how to photograph hot air balloons as they’re launching and while in the air on your balloon ride! Head Instructor Michael Downey will instruct the VIP registrants on different techniques and offer insight on shots to look for during the festival. Michael will also discuss gear recommendations, logistics on where to meet, and what to expect during the course of the morning.
On July 29th through 31st, join us with Unique Photo and Michael Downey at the 39th annual NJ Festival of Ballooning! You’ll learn how to photograph hot air balloons as they’re inflating, launching, and flying up in the air during a seminar at Unique’s Fairfield location. And with the special field access at the festival, you’ll be away from the crowds, behind the scenes, and free to roam for a variety of unique shots during your selected launch.

About Michael Downey
Michael Downey started teaching photography in 2004. He is the Head Instructor at Unique Photo and leads photographic excursions to local and distant locations. His excursion group has been to San Pedro, Belize with bird-watching photo studies, and treks to the Mayan ruins of Altun Ha. Other trips have included the Yucatan Peninsula with Chicken Itza and Tulum as well as Nice, Paris, Ireland, Namibia, and Monte Carlo. He loves the process of capturing beautiful images and is happy to share his approach with all.
