Fashion Photography Mini-Masterclass with Jeff Berlin, Presented by SIGMA America

This workshop, for photographers of all backgrounds, is a window into, and exploration of, the art of fashion photography. Your speaker, Jeff Berlin, has a long history creating images for world-class editorial and advertising clients in the fashion centers of New York, Paris, Milan, Munich and Los Angeles.

In this class, we will discuss what goes into producing and executing a fashion, beauty or portrait shoot, from assembling and interacting with your creative team and model casting, to finding inspiration and realizing your creative vision. We will talk gear and how to harness the tech you already possess to make better photos, and share how to create a few simple, edgy and modern lighting setups that are always flattering for your subjects. Speaking of subjects, we’ll discuss model testing, building your portfolio, directing models and celebrities on set, and of course, post-production. And most importantly, we will have a conversation about developing your eye for fashion because in fashion and portraiture, sensibility and execution are everything.

This will be a fun afternoon split between conversation and shooting, so bring your camera and be ready to shoot since everyone will have an opportunity to demo SIGMA lenses on set with our model.

Jeff Berlin is a cinematographer and photographer based in Los Angeles, California. He began his career in stills chasing fashion models down the streets of New York City with a camera. Through the years, he has shot for top fashion magazines and brands like Vogue Italia, L’Oreal, British Elle, Estée Lauder, Esquire, Bloomingdale’s, Miss Vogue, Macy’s, Vogue Pelle, Madame Figaro, Wella, and many others.
