As soon as this snowy egret jumped onto this branch to display I grabbed my 120-300 and immediately set the aperture to f/2.8 to isolate the bird from the background with a super shallow depth of field. I don’t hesitate to use this wide open where the lens still delivers great sharpness and contrast.
