Sigma Corporation teamed up with American Photo magazine for the American Photo Model Shoot on February 5th 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This one day workshop gave the participating photographers an opportunity to work with numerous models in various studio lighting situations and seek advice from a number of professional photographers. The participants only needed to bring their camera and their creativity. Sigma loaned out a collection of diverse lenses for the photographers to test out and American Photo provided the models and lighting.
The scheduling was jam packed with three photo sessions and two lectures by our Sigma Pros. Once the shooting session began, the registration and loaning room area instantly cleared out. It was apparent these photographers were eager to get some shooting done!
Each modeling stations were efficiently set up so several photographers could shoot at the same time. However from time to time when too many participants crowded around one model, the 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM lens became a sought after lens. The longer telephoto focal length and the Optical Stabilization feature contributed to crisp photos. The 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens was also popular for its extremely razor sharp focus and favorable focal length.
Our Sigma Pros, Lindsay Adler and Kevin Ames were enthusiastic about working directly with the photographers and to guide them through correct exposure and pleasant composition. Both of them weren’t afraid to dive into the action by moving around the lights and offering the models direction. They didn’t have any time to unwind!
